On Monday, July 14th, I proposed to my girlfriend! On the Friday before, I contacted both of her parents and asked them first... I'm kind of old-fashioned like that. They both gave me the thumbs-up, so I drove up into central Minnesota where she, her mom, and her mom's two friends were vacationing at a lake cabin.
I got down on my knee and popped the question on the little boat dock that was in front of their cabin. Quite honestly, I thought I would see a tear... but all I saw was the look on her face (which I will NEVER forget). The look was a mixture of being terrified and being in suspense all in one. That's okay, though... I know her well enough to know that wasn't a bad thing. :-)
At any rate, she said yes!
We will most-likely remain engaged for over a year. She still lives 450 miles away from me and we want to be at least living in the same zip-code before we actually get married.
Both her parents and my parents seem very happy about the engagement (a very good thing!).
Go ahead, gimme what ya got as far as giving me crap over it. It's been less than a week and I've heard every joke in the book about this whole thing. So, if you're creative enough, maybe you've got something to say that I HAVEN'T heard (but, I doubt it!).
Now, if I can just get used to telling people that I'm engaged..... :-)

Congratulations, and BTW, the next time you get paid, flush that check down the toilet. If you like that feeling, proceed with your plans.
